Selah! It is too easy to drown in worry about all we haven’t been able to achieve; all we’ve been deprived of for one reason or another; regrets that crawl out from our pasts, and then the great, tormenting fear of the future. These things don’t deserve the privilege of filling our minds. Someone else does, and He is the one King David sang for and to.<\/p>\n

At the end of a good number of verses in the book of Psalms, there is this mysterious word that keeps appearing: Selah.
\nIt is a call to pause and reflect. It is a call for us to slow down, turn our attention away from the craziness that seems to saturate this world; and instead place it on a Hope glorious beyond expression.<\/p>\n

Focus: Jesus<\/h2>\n

He is love when hate and pain surrounds us. He is our peace in the midst of storms of pandemic, fears, economic; and social distress, grief, suffering and death. He is Light in this present darkness. His word is pure and powerful, deep and rich, full of hope and joy.
\nDon’t give your precious heart to crippling things. Don’t dwell on what the media, the news or propaganda spews out. This is the exact reason why blood pressures spike; heart disease and mental illness have become ugly trends. We shouldn’t do this to ourselves.<\/p>\n

The Remedy<\/h3>\n

There is an extremely powerful guide<\/a> to achieving this. In God’s Kingdom, there’s no dark path. All is clear and open by the sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary. So, lucky us, right? Completely.
\nThousands of years ago, a man full of illumination sat in the bowels of a ruthless Emperor’s prison cell. With the horrible weight of all the disappointment and suffering he must’ve been feeling, you’d think he would crack and crumble. Not at all.<\/p>\n

He had found a higher ground built upon a loving Saviour. His remedy has been passed down, just as alive, relevant and potent as it had been then.
\nAt this moment, they still work wonders when applied. He puts his quill to the scroll, and right in the middle of other wordy treasures, he wrote:<\/p>\n

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.<\/span>
\n-(Philippians 4:8)<\/span><\/p>\n

He probably saw us, running here and there, hearts in our mouths, full of worry and fear, when he wrote this.
\nSo follow this guide, beloved. Cast off all those awful, draining things you’ve held onto. Allow the glorious music of Christ’s saving grace to comfort you in the highland; and in the heartache, just like it did David, Apostle Paul and countless others. Reflect on the things that fit these criteria based on God’s unfailing Word. This is a mechanism for His peace to flow through you and remain there.
\nAnd so, beloved, Selah.<\/p>\n
