The Healed Blind Man
To be healed is part of the packages of our salvation. Jesus Christ while passing by with His disciples met a man blind from birth. Birth defects is not beyond the power of our great Physician. Though not all defects are due to personal sin as seen in the passage.
As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
John 9:1-5
What a question!
As the disciples asked Jesus “who sinned?” we understood here based on the question of the disciples that, defects of such kind are due to sin. Had it not been so would they have asked? Jesus answered them but yet who could have committed the sin that caused the birth defect?. But irrespective of the cause Jesus showed mercy on him.
Jesus has come to reveal God’s mind to us, which is to take away our sorrows. The lesson here is that we start seeing our challenges as an opportunity to see the works of God. Everywhere Jesus was doing good.
He emphasized the need to work the works of God which is to heal us. Not for once are diseases and its relatives God’s will for His beloved. Had it been, Jesus wouldn’t have come. His sufferings was not for pleasure but for our healings. Prophet Isaiah expatiated on it.
Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;
Isaiah 53:4-5
yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
Before the incident of the sufferings of Christ, God through Isaiah gave us a summary of what happened.
Healed with His wounds
It is not just now. But since the day they wounded Jesus. We entered into the covenant of healing. Let us always remember that most things God provided solutions to, are not His perfect will for His children.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
1Peter 2:24
According to historical facts, the agony of the cross was beyond articulation. Jesus marred for us. How then can we doubt His willingness to heal us?. Huh! God is wiser than us, will He be withholding that healing He purchased from us?
About us
Jesus gave Himself that He might deliver us from this present evil world. Just as he healed that nameless blind man, He is not passing by again but rather He has come to abide with us. Which means, that healing we need is ever present with us. God understood our state and He knows some might not attain to that perfection of staying healed just like Jesus.
There is no barrier to being healed
Never give up. That healing that you desire is right by you, the barrier to receiving it is you. God did His part over 2,000years ago when Christ died. The remedy is that we come to Him by His word and continually believe what He says. Leave negative thoughts or examples that weakens the faith and look to Him for life. There is absolutely no barrier to healing except the one we put there.
Healing is children’s food, let us go to our father for it. He can never lie. The light has come to show us the way of God.
