God’s mind from the beginning was that He sees a race of people in His own likeness. Not likeness in the physical look but in the spiritual. Whether God is either black or white no one knows because God is a spirit (John 4:24). But we see the personality of God in Christ Jesus.

God created Adam in His image, to be the father of the race of people God wants to see. The Lord put into Adam the ability to procreate and dominate the world and till now God has never for once withdrawn that ability from man. When God created Adam, he had the mind of Christ, he knew no other mind apart from that. We understood that God didn’t create a robot. He created man that can reason and take responsibilities for their actions.

When Adam named the animals, God saw no need for correction, he named them perfectly as God would do. How did I know? During that time Adam was sinless which implies that he had a perfect relationship with God so that he could reason as God would do. God created Adam to make choices. After everything, Adam fell and corruption entered the work. Sin corrupted the gene of God in Adam . Therefore the reason for God to start the work of bring the man He created back to Himself.

Every man has a mind he was born with naturally and it followed the path of Adam, rebelling against God. God gave us Christ that we might posses this mind once again and live according to His desire. God gave it to believers in Christ. Which means, we have been empowered by God from birth (in Christ) to fulfill His mind or to have the mind of Christ.

Attributes of such mind

• Humility

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross

Philippians 2:8

• Desires God’s will

 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

Luke 22:42

• Devotion to God

And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

Luke 2:49

• Prayerfulness

In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.

Luke 6:12

The result

When we have it, it is life and peace with the Father. Adam, when he fell, hid from God’s presence. Salvation is the key to accessing the mind of Christ because though this mind is made available for all, it must be purchased at a price which is the blood of Jesus Christ. We received a new mind from God which now have all the attributes God want in His children.

 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1Corinthians 2:16

It will be of utmost importance that we know that, we have responsibilities or roles to play in really enjoying the attributes of this new mind in Christ Jesus.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

It doesn’t just happen on an autopilot, we must do something. The word of God must be our friend so that we can continually renew our mind aright while nurturing the mind of Christ in us.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

Philippians 2:5

This is the goal of discipleship that we return back to our creator carrying the seed of Christ’s life in us. God is gracious to us, in that this mind is attainable. It is all about all that Christ is.
