Crucified with Christ
Christianity is the largest religion in the world, with nearly 2.5 billion Christians living in the world. Yet the world is full of bad things. How can this be if every third person is a Christian? This is because we are not Christians because we call ourselves that. We are Christians because God calls us Christians.
Have You Been Crucified with Christ? Most Christians convert without any change in their lives. Many years may pass, but despite their Christian religion, they do not do good things.
„I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20
Many like to mention John 3:16 as the essence of the gospel, except that it does not include what we are to do. But in Galatians 2:20, Paul summarizes in a great way that we no longer have to live our own will, but the will of God. As Jesus said:
„Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
Matthew 16:24
What should we do?
It is not enough to go to church, it is not enough to pray, it is not enough to talk about God. We must do what God asks of us. But what do we have to do? Without the word of God, we cannot know this. Therefore, it is very important to know the Bible, read it often, and do what God asks of us.
Many people do not understand the importance of grace and works. It is thought that grace and deeds strike each other as if they were fire and water. Yet both are equally important, we have received grace from God to do His will.
„For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”
John 13:15
Let us not just follow Jesus in words, but act as Jesus did. Because what did Jesus do? He served the people. Unlike most of the pastors today who live in wealth and are served by members of the church.
What did Jesus do?
When Jesus was hungry, he rather fed the crowd. When he was tired, he did not sleep but taught others. Jesus was not rich, all his money was with Judas (John 12:6).
God does not want half-hearted followers. If we really want to follow Him, let us follow with all our efforts. Otherwise, it makes no sense to call ourselves Christians because we are only blaspheming God through our actions.
„You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.””
Romans 2:23-24
Grace must be valued, grace must not be abused. For God takes back His grace from those who abuse grace (Matthew 18:23-35).
