Let Your Light So Shine
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
We have been talking about light these recent times, its importance cannot be over emphasized. I trust our heavenly Father He would have done it for us but nay it is our responsibilities. Jesus called us the light of the world just as He is.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
We resemble our last Adam and this should compel us to live as He lived. The intensity of our light depends on the opaqueness of the object it is enclosed in. A dirty lantern will never shine brightly until it is cleaned because there are particles diming its light.
The spirit
The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.
Proverbs 20:27
Our spirit is the candle of the Lord, our soul and body is the means by which it can shine. Transformation starts from within to without, our duty is to ensure our transformation is happening every day and this depends on us. “Let” is a word of allowance, we see Jesus telling us to ALLOW our light so shine before men. That is, we by position have a light like that of Jesus that darkness cannot overcome. we received this into our spirits when we become born again, God lighted our candle that has went off since the fall of man. We have been born of the spirit.
The soul
Our soul being the bushel, God wouldn’t want us to enjoy the blessing alone. No, that is not the ultimate reason for getting us born again. Had it been so He would have just taken us home immediately we got born again. But just as the reason for putting up a light is for all in the house to see hence then need for us to radiate this light everywhere we go. No one sees our spirit and soul.
The body(where the light shine for others to see)
Now the body is the candlestick, God gave it to us so that we can stay on earth. This is the means by which others benefit from our light. Our bodies must be disciplined so that it can become so weak enough for the light to shine through us to others. It is our job to ensure we grow daily, this light will shine only if we have prepared the way for it. We are the beacons. God is depending so much on us, how we won’t fail Him is what we should be pursuing. His word has given us all we need. Let us remove the dross from our gold. Weaken the strength of the flesh. That as many will be seeing us will say we are just like Jesus. Let it shine, Jesus has paid the price for it believe it and do your part, He is expecting many souls from your light He believes in you why not believe you can.
Sin Has Been Conquered - Guest Blog Posts
[…] He started the chapter 6 with a question “are we to continue in it that grace may abound?” this is about “us” not even the sin itself. Are we to continue? Some Christians want to continue in it that is why they give excuses for every of their failures. Having the understanding of our positions in Jesus will liberate us from the dominions of darkness. Paul answered the question with a no, why? Because we are dead to it, we are no longer active to it, that is our deliverance in Christ Jesus. It a matter of our position. […]
